12/28/2023 0 Comments The tyranny of king washington![]() ![]() In this new timeline, certain characters who died in the base game (such as Ratonhnhakéton’s mother Kaniehtíio and his close friend Kanen’tókon) are still alive, while characters who served as allies in the base game (such as General Israel Putnam and Benjamin Franklin) have been corrupted and brainwashed under King Washington’s yoke. In Tyranny’s timeline, Ratonhnhakéton never became an Assassin (though dialogue spoken by Ratonhnhakéton throughout the DLC makes it clear that he remembers his life as Connor and is confused as to how he arrived in this new alternate timeline) and George Washington rules the colonies as a tyrannical king using the power of a precursor artifact. The Tyranny of King Washington takes this familiar narrative and basically turns it on its head. If you played the base Assassin’s Creed III game, you know that the main protagonist, a headstrong and courageous Native American named Ratonhnhakéton who eventually adopts the colonist name Connor, grows up to become an Assassin and allies himself with George Washington in order to hunt down major figures in the British army who also serve as key Templar leaders. Spoilers follow for Assassin’s Creed III and The Tyranny of King Washington DLC campaign A What-If Scenario For The Ages While the idea was a very intriguing one, sadly the execution of said idea left much to be desired. ![]() Templars war overshadow or significantly alter actual historic events and figures as we remember them, but for Assassin’s Creed III, the studio decided to do something drastically different as part of an optional DLC story campaign: present the idea of what would happen if the noble Revolutionary War commander George Washington wasn’t quite so noble. Ubisoft has always been careful about not letting the hidden Assassins vs. The Assassin’s Creed series has taken players to many famous points in history, often weaving the core Assassin’s Creed narrative (the never-ending war between the Assassins and Templars) into the tapestry of real-life history.
